First Presbyterian Church, Encino, CA

First Presbyterian Church is on the Cover of their magazine
First Presbyterian needed a face-lift and new lighting. The client wanted a fresh clean look, a modern approach and lower maintenance cost. The Architects decided to build from the once dark wooden "A" frame design. They completely revised the interior with drywall panels and added skylights partially hidden allowing direct / indirect lighting in during the day.

To keep the skylight theme, cove lighting with 3000K 40W biax lamps were installed sporadically lighting the ceiling. A touch of quartz down lighting added sparkle and definition to the furniture below.

CFL wall sconces installed along the aisle brighten the walls widening the space.

Important areas of the stage were independently lit allowing the client to have different looks for different events.

The lobby was redesigned with mock skylights open to the loft above. Quartz down light passed through the glass creating the effect while 3000K 26W CFL downlight filled in the lobby illumination. Matching wall washers highlighted the donor wall. (Wall wash fixtures were not aimed when photographed)

Completing the project, three framing projectors focused directly on the architectural drywall cross precisely define its 8" face. Moreover the client enjoys a 40% savings from lighting power consumption and a 100% increase in lighting output at the work plain (calculations do not include the new day-lighting further increasing savings).
